🇯🇵🇵🇸 Japanese pro-Palestinian activist Kozo Okamoto has passed away. Okamoto was the last surviving participant of the 1972 Lod Airport operation, carried out by members of the Japanese Red Army in coordination with Palestinian resistance organizations. The attack targeted Israel’s Lod Airport (now Ben Gurion Airport) and remains one of the most well-known operations in the history of the Palestinian struggle. Following his imprisonment in Israel, Okamoto was released in a prisoner exchange in 1985 and eventually settled in Lebanon, where he was granted political asylum and became a symbolic figure of international solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
